I am so pleased to welcome fiber artist Mercury Hogan to the NP Studios Passaic location!
Mercury Hogan does not have origins. Born in Hong Kong to parents from the United States and the Philippines, she was raised in seven countries on three continents – a multicultural upbringing that has taught her to question everything and take nothing for granted. The sensation of being an outsider, of taking up someone else’s space, has been one of the only constants throughout her nomadic life.
Mercury has been drawn towards the methodical neurosis and universal necessity of fiber arts since the age of three. In her work, she unites traditional fiber methods from around the world, innovative textile practices, personal narrative, and ritualistic performance. Her existential dread leads her to record every second of her creative process as evidence.
