Classically trained painter and graduate of F.I.T Raisa Nosova recently exhibited her first solo exhibition at Gallery 51 in Montclair. She has also exhibited at the Morristown Museum, Miami Art Basel and the Arts Student League in Manhattan. We are so happy to have such a talented artist return to the Prospect Park studio.
Artist Statement
In my interiors series I explore the idea of the tangibility of spaces that we, as social individuals, pass through daily in our lives. Sometimes we have a feeling of belonging to particular spaces, sometimes consider certain spaces our own, and sometimes feel that we don’t belong anywhere. Since I tend to not have a feeling of belonging to places, I seek to grasp onto the physical environments, allowing them to become palpable in my itinerant life. Giving most attention and sensitivity to the way the atmospheric colors and light diffuse throughout spaces, I recreate the interiors by layering thick brushstrokes in oil paint on canvas.
