Artist Statement
This body of work is a journey toward an understanding of the inevitable life cycle. Starting in the womb, the egg is a symbol of hope and potential, a blank canvas waiting to be influenced and molded by the individuals perception of the cycle. The female figures, both mother and seducer represent the natural instincts that spark the beginning of each individual cycle and sustain us through to our end. The tree mirrors the female figure offering further protection and nourishment as we travel through the maze of stairs, bridges and winding paths that lead us toward the unavoidable mystery that is the end. In time we come to nourish that same tree as we transition ultimately from flesh to dust, the real to the unreal, light to dark, death to immortality.
